Ernest Vogel was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1909, and arrived Australia in 1913.

He is a traditional painter of landscapes in oil, watercolour, pastel as well as a designer.

He designed the interior of the Regent Theatre, Melbourne.

His work is represented at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Launceston and other provincial galleries.

He died in 1993.
